Vacancy Description:

Our client, one of the UK's leading ambient grocery distribution and storage companies, is seeking an experienced Traffic Controller. With 430 staff over four sites and 105 articulated units, 205 trailers, and a further expansion scheduled for 2007 which will increase the size of the fleet – this is a Company with ambition.

Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will function as an essential part of the team and will have responsibility for the effective control of all vehicle resources while ensuring operator licence compliance. The role will require you to plan the day-to-day operations of our vehicles, meeting agreed service levels and enabling maximum utilisation of the fleet. Liaising with both external customers and our field personnel, you will be expected to take into account the constraints and problems experienced by them to ensure customer satisfaction.

From a related distribution/logistics background, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their success and will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, along with proven experience in transport planning operations. Competent in IT, each applicant must possess current knowledge of Transport Legislation. A C.P.C. National is essential.

The nature of this role will require the successful candidate to work a flexible shift pattern, including 1 Saturday in 3, and would be responsible for taking out of hours mobile phone calls on a rota.
